1 In the simplest terms of genre definition, Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars is a run and gun Unreal Tournament clone. There's no amazing spin tacked on to this shooter to make it stand out from the crowd, nor is there a story to keep you playing to find out what happens at the end. In the summary provided by Immersion Games we're told, "Choose your side in the battle of technology vs humanity..." This never comes up. As far as I can tell it's the freaks on the Red team versus the freaks on the Blue team. At no point in the game lobby or the in game menu did I have any choice or any definitive way of knowing which team was going to be fighting for Technology or battling for Humanity.

1 The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have had a long video game history. Their gaming legacy started with the arcade cabinets to the NES and so on to the Wii release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Smash-Up in late September. It’s only natural that one of the classic side-scrolling beat’em ups from decades past is remade, which it has. The game is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-shelled, a downloadable game that’s a throwback to the reptilian quartet’s 1991 video game TMNT: Turtles in Time.

1 This year’s edition of NCAA Football 10 has a simple theme - 'Play the game the way it’s meant to be played'. EA was able to do something a little unexpected for a sports game. Every game play mode has been geared toward making you a better at football, not just the video game. It still has everything a seasoned vet would expect, but is more inviting to a casual fan of football that might not understand what a cornerback’s assignment is in a cover 2 defense. It might even help more seasoned players understand how to read defensive coverage and setup plays.

Overall, these features work surprisingly well without sacrificing authenticity and feel players have come to love. While NCAA football games of the past were fundamentally sound; these new mechanics greatly enhance the playing experience.

mz1 Better call Scully and Mulder, because the aliens are coming. Your latest (and possibly last) foray into the wasteland will take you out of this world, when you’re transported aboard an alien ship and taken prisoner. As someone who was highly critical of the first two DLCs (Operation Anchorage and The Pitt), Mothership Zeta ended up surprising me as being  just as fun, if not more so than many of the Fallout and Oblivion DLCs (Shivering Isles excluded).

4 Editor's Note: 'Vs.' features take an idea or topic that our staff members don't necessairly agree upon and lets us do an op-ed illistration of our thoughts on the topic. We're intrested in hearing your thoughts and who you agree with - so please comment. This Vs. set of articles covers the ideas of why do people do things for fun that the games don't necessairly intend and why do they make a game of things in games. We even get a little off topic and veer into some discussion of old games vs new games and the incentive for moving on or going back to play older titles. Fire away and fuel the discussion!

'Unlimited Power. Potential Wasted.' by Rob Alvarado

World of Warcraft players leveled 1 to cap hang out in front of Iron Forge and dance. Fallout 3 players seek out new and elaborate ways of destroying their avatar. Brawlers in Smash Brothers have an itchy pause finger ready to catch any humiliatingly hilarious screen grabs. The thugs running rampant in Grand Theft Auto are putting Evil Knievel to shame by using a full assortment of vehicles to pull off some incredible stunt work. Personally, I like to collect and move things. My favorite is making piles of bodies in any game that doesn't make them vanish and lets me move them around. Metal Gear is very good for it but I've found that Tenchu was the best for this hobby. Ever catch yourself doing something in game that isn't exactly part of the game or just really dumb?
